TechTouch Training Philosophy

The most common type of training is classes held at the trainer’s site. Clients would send their employees for a one or two day training class in the topic of their choice. This type of training allowed companies to profit from an increased knowledge of an application and an increase in the productivity of the employee.

The downside to this type of training is the employee must be absent from the workplace for an entire day or two for the training class. The company usually reimburses the employee for the mileage to drive to the training site and there is the added inconvenience to the employee to drive what may be some distance.

The training companies solved some of these concerns by offering on-site training, sending an instructor and, if needed, equipment to the client’s location. This reduced the extra driving time for the employee and the employee was at their work location in the event of an emergency that needed their attention. This is however a costly endeavor for the client because they had to commit to fill the class with 12 -15 students. This is not practical for smaller companies that only need a few people trained.

Current research shows that there has been a steady decline in the number of students taking classes in this environment. This does not mean, however, that training is not needed. The clients did not stop sending their employees to classes because there is nothing new to learn; they stopped sending people because of the inconveniences of this type of training environment.

Also, most course curriculum is preformatted to encompass the most common elements believed to be needed by the work force. Classes are offered in a beginning, intermediate or advanced format but students are finding there is a lot of information imparted that is either not needed or already known. This forces the student to waste their time and their company’s money by sitting through portions of the class that are not desired.

TechTouch has discovered that a more personalized approach is needed. A more customized curriculum which allows the client to choose which topics will be covered in class; on-site classes without the large 12 – 15 student enrollment commitment; and finally, the option of shorter classes are just some of the benefits of working with TechTouch.

TechTouch offers complete customized training packages. We will assist you every step of the way. The first step is to determine what employee skills will benefit your company the most. We accomplish this by visiting your site and speaking with key personnel. Then we determine which of these skills will benefit the most from additional training. Using this information we can propose a complete customized training curriculum in the software application of your choice.

In today’s work environment flexibility is a must and TechTouch is right there with the flexibility you need. If a full day of training doesn’t make sense we can offer the same curriculum in two half day sessions or impart less material in fewer hours. We also offer one and a half hour power lunch sessions covering a single topic.

In addition, all of TechTouch’s classes are brought to your location and include a student training manual, a quick reference guide, and three month’s of telephone support covering the topics in the class session for each student in attendance. The free follow-up telephone support is an important aspect of computer training as it allows students to ask questions after the training session as they attempt to apply the skills they learned to the practical work environment.
